Youth Scholarship Award

This newly created scholarship award, based on a point system from bowling activities and academia, will be awarded to three outstanding youths. The final decision from the board was to award three youths a scholarship based from the $1 allocation of the SCNBA membership card fee. $400 will be split among the following three youth bowlers:

Preston Fukumizu - $175 Award Leslie Kamoto - $175 Award Nicole Kato - $50 Award

PRESTON FUKUMIZU (Yorba Linda Bowl and relative of Brian & Tina Fukumizu);

LESLIE KAMOTO (Brunswick Moreno Valley Bowl and relative of Gina Kamoto); and

NICOLE KATO (Pinz Bowling Center and relative of Nancy Kato).

Each will be receiving a youth scholarship, which will be submitted to the USBC SMART Program (Scholarship Management and Accounting Reports for Tenpins) to help with their continued educational goals. Thank you for spreading the word about this new award and we look forward to the 2010 scholarship winners to come.

PURPOSE
To recognize excellence qualities in a high school or college student who competes in the sport of bowling. Qualities include distinguished certified bowling performances on state, local, national, international, Team USA or Collegiate levels; academic achievement; and leadership. Award winners receive a scholarship award.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The nominee shall be an active member of the California USBC (Youth or Collegiate) and an amateur as defined by USBC rules currently bowling in a USBC youth certified league.

  2. A direct relative (son, daughter, niece, nephew or cousin) of a current SCNBA member.

  3. A high school graduating SENIOR who has APPLIED to an accredited University, Junior College or Vocational Institution — OR — currently attending an accredited University, Junior College or Vocational Institution.

  4. Younger than 22 years as of August 1st, 2009.

  5. Nominee must have a current California USBC membership card in good standing.

  6. Have a minimum of 2.0 GPA or equivalent.

SUBMISSION
Your application must be made using this official form. Please complete this form and return it postmarked no later than February 1, 2009. This scholarship award may only be won once and is valid only for Southern California youth bowlers per the eligibility requirements. If more than one deserving applicant is selected, the scholarship award will be split equally for that year. Thank you for applying for this scholarship.
