2007 Invitational Roll-Off

After a slow start with the lanes that had to be re-dressed, we finally got moving and had some great scores. Alan Yamanaka from Mission Hills Bowl shot 300 in the first game of qualifying, Angela Koga shot 259/234 = 496, Kevin Kikuchi shot 267/259 = 526 and Kent Maruyama had 246/277 = 523 for their two games of qualifying.  We cut to the top eight teams. Jerry Gonzales’ team was top seed with 1853+188 = 2041 total. The cut score was 1607+172 = 1779 Bruce Van Aalst’s team.  In the roll-off, Bruce Van Aalst’s team made it all the way to the finals. It was a close match between them and SFV Nikkei #2 with Vickie and Todd Niistuma, Julia Takeuchi and David Hayashida. Glenn Ito shot 266 that last game, but it just wasn’t enough for the win. SFV Nikkei #2 came out on top taking the title!

We also paid out five $50 bonus awards for the highest scratch games in the qualifying round of the tournament: Alan Yamanaka 300, Kent Maruyama 277 (Open Men), Angela Koga 259 (Open Women), Stan Takemoto 263 (Sr. Men), and Lynne Tomita 248 (Sr. Women). We will be hosting this tournament again next year so please help spread the word. Just remember, you must be a member of the NBA for 4 out of the last 5 years!
